I earned a Bachelors of Science in Marine Engineering Systems at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 2019.

Education and career/professional experience: I received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Systems from the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. I used my education to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in 2019. I have been employed as an engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard since graduation.

Education and career/professional experience: I attended Colgate University where I received a BA in English, then moved to Los Angeles to teach third grade in Compton, through Teach For America. During this experience I met my husband and also figured out I needed more education in order to serve kids. I moved to NYC and in 1991, received a dual Masters degree in Social Work (school social work concentration) and Education through a combined program at Bank Street College of Education and Columbia University in NYC.
