KITTERY CITIZENS
The Kittery Town Council is seeking citizens interested and available to volunteer one day to participate in a series of interviews which are part of the process to select the next Town Manager for Kittery. Eaton Peabody Consulting Group (EPCG), operating under their consulting contract with the Town will be coordinating preliminary interviews of candidates for the position as part of the selection process.
A series of interviews will take place on Tuesday September 13 from 8AM to approximately 5PM at the Kittery Community Center and volunteers must be available for the entire day.
Approximately 7-9 citizen volunteers will be selected to participate on a facilitated panel to interview final candidates for the position of Town Manager. A facilitator will lead the group thorough a prepared question and answer process with each of the candidates to help assess certain personal characteristics, attributes and aspects of individual style that relate to how well a candidate may interact with and be viewed by citizens of the community. EPCG’s approach is based upon their notion that each community has a unique “personality” shaped by the values, attitudes and expectations of the citizens who live there. Some candidates will be more compatible with a specific town or city’s personality than others and therefore more easily assimilated and accepted by the community. The resident panel’s perspectives are considered valuable in helping inform the Town Council how each of the candidates may fit into and be received by the community as a whole.
EPCG will make the final selection of panelists based upon the number of volunteers and the desire to achieve a balanced and representative cross section of the community.
In addition to this citizen panel, finalists will also be interviewed by a panel of municipal employees as well as being interviewed by the Town Council. The citizen panel and the employee panel will discuss the results of their interviews with the Town Council who will then make the final decision on the next Kittery Town Manager.
Those interested in volunteering should complete the attached application with their name, contact information and a brief profile of themselves touching upon work & life experience, civic and social service activities, current & past community involvements and any other relevant facts about their interest in serving on this panel.
