KITTERY POINT, Maine — Cleanup and exterior restoration to the Wood Island Life Saving Station may start next week after the town and Wood Island Life Saving Station Association awarded the two contracts for the work.

Both contracts were awarded to Chesterfield Associates, Inc., which has an office on Westport Island. The town awarded Chesterfield a $250,000 contract for the removal of hazardous materials on the site, and WILSSA awarded a $400,000 contract for phase I of the exterior repairs to the building at the entrance of the Pistacaqua River. The money for clean-up and repairs have come through grants.
