ELIOT, Maine — The new chief of police will be coming from the ranks of the department. Town Manager Dana Lee will officially announce that Lt. Elliot Moya will be promoted to chief at the Select Board’s April 14 meeting.
For three years, Eliot has shared the current chief, Theodor Short, with the Kittery Police Department. Short was in Eliot for more than eight years before that. Last September, Short announced his retirement, and although the two towns at first announced they would advertise jointly for a new police chief, they have since decided to each have its own chief.
