Kittery business owner: Memorial Circle project will cost him business

KITTERY, Maine — The proposed changes to the Memorial Circle will not benefit the traffic to a local business, according to the owner of the land where the eatery is located, and he has sent a letter to the Maine governor asking him to halt the project.
In work that is expected to begin next spring, a redesign of Memorial Circle is to promote safer travel around the traffic circle by redesigning the entrances and exits into the circle, changing the geometry of the circle to slow traffic inside of it and adding share-use paths for pedestrians and cyclists around the circle.
However, the shared-use path is expected to go through the parking lot of The BBQ Barn, which was formerly The Dog House, and as many as four parking spaces could be eliminated from the business. There is more to this story.
