School district solicits bids for boiler replacement project

KITTERY, Maine —The Kittery School District is soliciting bids for a boiler system replacement project at the Horace Mitchell Elementary School in Kittery Point.

The project includes the removal of two existing oil boilers and the installation two high-efficiency L.P. gas boilers. The project is slated to begin in either April or May, weather permitting, and finish before the beginning of the 2016/2017 school year. Part of the project is also to reduce a significant amount of energy usage through conservation measures.

The project also calls for the removal of an above ground 3,000 gallon oil storage tank and installing two 1,000 gallon L.P. gas storage tanks.

The bids are due by Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Central Administrating Building of the School Department, which is housed in the Kittery Town Hall. The bids must be in sealed envelopes and clearly marked “Bid for Mitchell School Replacement Boiler Project – not to be opened until February 16, 2016.” Bids will be read allowed on Feb. 16 at noon at the administration building.
