KITTERY, Maine — The Kittery Town Council voted to raise the town manager’s salary by $4,000 for the last year of her contract.
The council voted 6-0 with Council Chairman Gary Beers abstaining to increase Nancy Colbert Puff’s salary by 3.75 percent to $110,575, which is effective through Nov. 12, 2016. While the decision to give the raise was nearly unanimous, getting to the vote took time.
The decision to raise Colbert Puff’s salary was a postponed agenda item from the Nov. 9 meeting. At that meeting, Councilor Jeff Thomson moved to raise Colbert Puff’s salary by 2.25 percent. However, Council Ken Lemont asked to postpone the item because he wanted to undertake a compensation study. Because not all councilors could make December meetings, taking action on the item was postponed until Monday night when all councilors would be present.
