KITTERY, Maine — The Town Council appointed new members to the Planning Board and Board of Appeals at their meeting Monday evening, as well as reappointing members to other various town boards.

The council appointed Leroy “Dutch” Dunkelberger to the Planning Board and Barry Fitzpatrick to the Board of Appeals.

The decision for both boards was between two candidates. The other Planning Board candidate was Brett Costa, who had previously applied for the position in November, but the council denied his appointment. Councilor Judy Spiller said at the time she voted against Costa because she wanted more candidates to choose from, citing the importance of the Planning Board. Costa reapplied soon after, but the council did not take action until Monday. He has served on the Board of Appeals since 2002, but his position was replaced by Fitzpatrick, as Costa had termed-out on the board.
