KITTERY, Maine – The town’s library committee discussed a 2011 report highlighting the need for more space for Rice Public Library, as it continues its quest to determine a future path for a new town library.

The report from Aaron Cohen Associates Ltd. outlined three options for a new Rice Public Library, with the newly formed library committee only discussing in detail option 1, which calls for a 20,000-square-foot, one-story library on the Kittery Community Center campus. The other options, including an addition to the Rice building or renovating the existing community center annex for a library, were deemed inefficient.
