VANDALSTeens arrested on school vandalism charge

KITTERY, Maine — Chief of Police Theodor G. Short on Friday announced the arrest of a 15-year-old male from Portsmouth and a 15-year-old female from Kittery in connection with vandalism at Mitchell School on Thanksgiving night.

The teens, whose names were not released as they are minors, were charged with aggravated criminal mischief. The charge applies because the value of the damage exceeds $2,000. They are scheduled to appear in Juvenile court on Feb. 10, 2015, according to Short.

The chief praised the cooperative effort of Kittery Fire Department, Kittery School District and the police department for resolving the case quickly.

Short previously reported that police responded to the elementary school’s alarm about 10 p.m. Nov. 27. Damage was reportedly done to a light and a sprinkler head.
