NH_Portsmouth_Herald Last week, ahead of the oncoming winter freeze, Kittery Public Works Commissioner Norm Albert and his crew installed the final piece of the USS Thresher Memorial Project.
If you’ve passed through Kittery, Maine, in the past 20 months, chances are you’ve noticed the 129-foot flagpole in the middle of Memorial Circle. The pole was dedicated in April 2013 to honor the 129 Navy sailors and civilian workers who perished aboard the USS Thresher half a century before, in history’s worst submarine disaster.
