KITTERY, Maine — Police confirmed Saturday evening that a fire destroyed an 1880s barn at 199 Brave Boat Harbor Road.

According to Vision Appraisal, the barn is on a property owned by Madeline Gavin.

According to police reports, the fire went to two alarms before it was brought under control.

Kittery police on Saturday evening tweeted a photo of the charred remains of the barn.

No one from the Kittery police or fire departments were available Saturday night to provide more information on the fire.

A Seacoast Media Group story published in May 2008 detailed how the barn was restored by Gavin and was used for theater productions including those of Harbor Light Stage and its Artistic Director Kent Stephens.
