LecturesKITTERY, Maine — A local woman will share her story of looking for her Australian roots at a photo lecture at the Rice Public Library on March 20.

It is open to the public and free of charge.

Margaret Carol will present a lecture on her visit to the site of her great-grandfather’s shipwreck in 1865 on the northwest coast of Australia. While being one of two survivors of the shipwreck, he remained for many months living with two Aboriginal tribes who saved his life.

In 2002, Margaret went in search of descendants of these tribes to express her gratitude for their care of her ancestor. The presentation includes photos from her journey and details of this multi-generational cross-culture story.

The event takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
