Memorial Circle Improvement Work to Begin July 31

Memorial Circle Improvement Work to Begin July 31

The improvement project for Memorial Circle in Kittery will begin Monday, July 31st.  The project will include installation of sidewalks around the outer circle, new curbing, and paving improvements.  The project is being funded by MaineDOT, Kittery Area Comprehensive Transportation System and the Town of Kittery and is expected to cost approximately $2.6M.

The construction phase of the project is expected to take approximately four months, with a completion date of December 15th or earlier.  The Circle will remain open during construction.  Temporary closures may occur, however no closure is expected to last more than 5 minutes in duration.  Access to the adjacent businesses will be available at all times during the project.  The majority of the construction will occur in the evening to avoid impacts on daytime traffic flow through this busy area.  Some daytime work is expected intermittently.  Evening construction hours will be 6PM to 5AM.

A project manager for the construction company and a clerk of the works for the town will be present on site during most construction activities.  Questions or issues with the construction should be reported to the Department of Public Works at 439-0333 during the business day and the Police Department at 439-1638 otherwise.  Follow the Town of Kittery @TownofKittery on Twitter for updates about the project status and planned work.
