KITTERY, Maine — Zachary Spinney, 36, of Kittery was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for possession of a firearm while under a protection from abuse order on Friday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
Spinney and his girlfriend reportedly bought a semi-automatic rifle and 180 rounds of ammunition on July 4, 2016, and he later fired the weapon at a sand pit in Eliot later that day, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Spinney pleaded guilty to the federal firearms charge back on Nov. 28.
