KITTERY, Maine — Town Councilor Judy Spiller had harsh words for a fellow councilor at Monday’s Town Council Meeting.

Spiller, who is a board member of the Kittery Maine Improvement Foundation, said she was the subject of an “absurd and baseless charge,” alleging she used her position on the KMIF board to distribute funds to Kittery-based causes and projects in return for political support. Spiller said the accusation stemmed from a resident’s seemingly innocent compliment thanking her for her work with the KMIF that the councilor in question overheard.
