Walter Wheeler recalled as a great guy, best friend

wheelerKITTERY, Maine — The last World War II veteran to serve in the Maine House of Representatives, and proud of it. A good and gracious man with a ready smile and a firm belief in people. A wonderful father who was generous with his time and wisdom.

These are just a few of the accolades that poured in Wednesday from people in Kittery, Augusta and beyond, when they learned of the death of former state representative and retired Portsmouth Naval Shipyard worker Walter Wheeler, who passed away at age 91 on Valentine’s Day. He was surrounded by family at his Kittery home when he passed.

Funeral Information

Friends may visit with Walt’s family on Sunday February 19, 2017 from 6-8pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03903 .A funeral will be celebrated on Monday February 20, 2017 at St. Marks United Methodist Church on Government Street in Kittery at noon.
