KITTERY, Maine — The School Committee reluctantly accepted Kittery School District Superintendent Allyn Hutton’s retirement at their meeting on Tuesday evening.
In fact, School Committee Chairman David Batchelder had to ask a second time for a board member to make a motion to accept Hutton’s retirement, which is effective at the end of the school year, after committee members remained silent after he first asked. Board members only shook their heads no, not wanting to see her go.
Committee member Kim Bedard finally made the motion that was seconded by many on the board and unanimously approved. While Hutton had announced her retirement publicly about two weeks ago, the School Committee had not met to accept her retirement notice.
