KITTERY, Maine — The Town Council will have a special meeting Monday night to hold hearings for property owners affected by the new sewer line who have appealed their assessment.
Eleven people with 13 applications have filed for hearings to contest the sewer assessment they received from the town late last month. After the hearing if property owners disagree with the outcome, they can appeal the decision to an arbitration panel made up of six Kittery residents.
Earlier this week, the Sewer Department sent out connection notices to the affected property owners, giving them 90 days to connect to the system or request a deferment from the town manager. The 90-day clock begins Monday.
