Kittery Town Council weighs development from business park

shutterstock_104724416 KITTERY, Maine — The Economic Development Committee urged the Town Council to invest municipal funds into the town’s business park as a way to generate significant tax revenue for the town.

The EDC met with the Town Council on Monday in a workshop before the council’s regularly scheduled meeting. The workshop was held for the council to have a better understanding of potential development and tax revenue from the Kittery Business Park, a municipal development district created at the end of 2010 by the Town Council and sanctioned by the state of Maine.

While the discussion was not focused on funding the sewer extension project, part of the town manager’s proposal to reduce estimated high sewer betterment fees is contingent on revenue generated from the park.
