KITTERY/ELIOT, Maine — The Kittery and Eliot police departments are reminding residents to lock their doors after taking numerous car burglary reports on Thursday.

As of Thursday afternoon, Kittery police had taken 12 reports of vehicles around Martin and Stevenson roads burglarized overnight. Among the stolen items were portable electronics, a .22 rifle and money.

Eliot police reported nine cars were broken into at four addresses, mostly on State Road. A total of about $900 was stolen collectively.

“We’ve been running around like a chicken with our heads cut off,” said Eliot Police Chief Elliott Moya about all the burglary reports.
