Today there was a ground breaking ceremony at the Frisbee Pier. Many dignitaries were there from all over New England. WILSSA President Sam Reid spoke to about 50 people.
There was an unveiling of a sign and there will be more to come from Brian Early of the Portsmouth Herald who was covering the event.
Chairman Gary Beers of the Kittery Town Council spoke to the crowd. Kittery Town Councilors Gary Beers, Russell White, Ken Lemont and Chuck Denault were present representing the Town of Kittery.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a $650,000 job this year that is expected to remove hazardous waste from the island and make structural repairs to the life-saving station that was once used to help rescue distressed ships in the area. The job for both repairs and cleanup was awarded to Chesterfield Associates.
