KITTERY, Maine — The town’s new police chief will be sworn Monday and a farewell party for outgoing police chief of both Eliot and Kittery will be held on Friday at the Kittery Community Center.

Former Manchester, New Hampshire, Police detective Capt. James Soucy will take part in a short swearing-in ceremony at the police station May 16 when he will succeed outgoing Chief Ted Short. While Short was chief of both Kittery and Eliot, Soucy will be the sole chief of Kittery. Eliot recently named Elliott Moya as its new chief.
