KITTERY, Maine — The towns of Kittery and Eliot will host an open house to bid farewell to their joint Police Chief Ted Short on Friday afternoon at the Kittery Community Center.

Residents, family, friends, staff, selectmen and town councilors from both towns are invited to wish Short a fond farewell and enjoy refreshments. The open house will be held May 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Banquet Room at the KCC, 120 Rogers Road.

Short’s retirement is effective June 30, though Short has indicated he will be using unused vacation time. Eliot promoted Elliott Moya from lieutenant to police chief, and Kittery recently hired former Manchester detective Capt. James Soucy to become its next police chief.
