KITTERY, Maine — A catchy song in a short protest video highlighting town residents who will be affected by high sewer betterment fees in Kittery has gone viral locally, collecting nearly 10,000 views since it was posted Sunday morning.
It highlights the growing anger from a group of residents who each face an approximate $20,000 bill for a nearly finished sewer extension. Since it was posted on Sunday at 8:54 a.m., the video has been shared 199 times as of Tuesday night with more than 9,600 views.
The video is slideshow of pictures showing various signs made and mostly held by residents in the neighborhood where sewer was extended. They are protesting the high cost of their expected payment for the project that will be completed in the coming weeks.
