Kittery resident raising money for historical signs
KITTERY, Maine — A Kittery man is soliciting businesses for donations to help install historical markers around town in an effort to preserve local history.
Two signs have already been installed, and D. Allen Kerr is hopeful that enough businesses will contribute funds by the end of April to install two more signs in time for the summer season.
Last year, with the help of donations from the owners of Lil’s Café, AJ Wood Grill Pizza and Rudders Public House, the first historical marker was installed in Wallingford Square in the Foreside, providing a history of the nearby Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
