KITTERY, Maine — Architects and the director of the Rice Public Library presented on Wednesday potential plans of constructing a new library on the Kittery Community Center campus to the KCC board of directors.

The meeting was the second this year between the boards of directors of the KCC and the Rice Public Library on the idea of locating the library on the KCC town-owned property.

Where the meeting in January was a more generalized discussion without plans, Wednesday’s presentation had detailed schematics detailing where the building would sit and how it would be organized inside. While the KCC board expressed appreciation to the Rice board for adjusting plans to take in some of the concerns expressed previously — like parking and the athletic field — KCC board members urged the library board to shift focus for now from the detailed designs and focus on larger strategic issues that would come before a new library could be built on the KCC.
