KITTERY, Maine — After the Town Council approved an updated repair, use and maintenance contract for the Wood Island Life Saving Station Monday, the group tasked with repairs is putting final touches on a proposal they hope to put out to bid next week.

Wood Island Life Saving Station Association President Sam Reid said they are doing a “final final review” on the bid packages for the two projects expected to happen later this year. The town and other stakeholders are assisting with the review. Reid is planning for work to begin in May.

“We’re nearly ready to advertise (the bid), thanks in large part to Town Manager (Nancy Colbert) Puff and her staff,” Reid said.
