KITTERY, Maine — The town’s library committee met earlier this week to continue working through the questions posed by the Town Council on potentially building a new town library near the Kittery Community Center.

At recent meetings, the committee has culled through libraries in New England towns which are comparable in population size and tax base to Kittery as well have completed recent library construction projects. Before the next meeting, Town Manager and committee member Nancy Colbert Puff will send a questionnaire to the library directors of those communities. After the e-mail is sent, members of the committee will follow-up with each of the library directors to get answers from as many different libraries as possible.
