KITTERY, Maine — Lifelong town resident Jonathan Rivers always had an interest in one day serving on a town board, finally deciding to jump in to the School Committee race this year, as a dearth in candidates developed.

“Nobody had signed up to run two weeks prior to the deadline, so that prompted me,” Rivers, 42, said. “I have a lot of friends and know a lot of kids in the district, I thought it was important to keep the good things going in Kittery.”
