Seacoast officials discuss housing shortage for J1 students

KITTERY, Maine — Business owners, town and city officials and a representative from the U.S. State Department joined several other area residents and stakeholders Wednesday to discuss how to best handle the influx of foreign college students from the J1 Student Visa Program.
How to safely, affordably and adequately house the close to 300 college students that help the glut of hospitality positions needed during peak tourists months was the main topic of conversation, with safety in housing and better transportation also a priority.
