Kittery board rejects Foreside demo moratorium proposal
KITTERY, Maine — Planning Board members were mostly against a demolition moratorium for the Foreside that was brought forward by a group of roughly 25 residents.
The board decided that it wouldn’t present the proposal to the Town Council, after only one present member voiced support in a moratorium.
“I feel strongly that there isn’t enough factual evidence for this necessity,” said Karen Kalmar, vice chairwoman of the board. “What I’m hearing is a legitimate concern, but without concrete stats, amounts of permits, applications, I don’t think we should enact a moratorium that affects roughly 190 properties.”
