Shipyard history talk at library event
KITTERY, Maine – The Friends of the Rice Public Library annual meeting will feature a presentation on the history of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, delivered by the yard’s Public Affairs Officer Gary Hildreth.
The presentation will focus on the breadth of history the shipyard has, dating back more than 200 years. Before working in the public affairs office, Hildreth had a 29-year career in the U.S. Navy, working on the shipyard’s submarines.
For more than 30 years, the Friends of the Rice Public Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the library through financial and volunteer support.
