Kittery school budget faces Town Council’s vote
KITTERY, Maine — The Town Council is holding a public hearing Monday night regarding the proposed school budget for 2015-16.
After the public hearing, the council will vote whether to accept or deny the budget and move it to the June 11 town vote.
The budget of roughly $14 million would represent a 1.7 percent increase to the taxpayers from the year before, with major additions including a computer science teacher at Traip Academy, an assistant principal split between Mitchell Elementary School and Shapleigh Middle School and a part-time Spanish teacher at the high school.
