KITTERY, Maine — The Kittery Community Market will now take place on Sundays, June 7 through October 4, from 10 am to 2 pm, in the Post Office Square parking lot, 10 Shapleigh Road, Kittery.
Now in its third year, the Kittery Community Market features agricultural, prepared food and artisan vendors, live music, a kid’s corner and a featured local nonprofit or community organization each week, as well as a schedule of special social and educational events. This outdoor farmers’ market takes place weekly at Post Office Square by the new Tributary Brewing Company. Vendor booths will now be located at the end of the parking lot nearest the road to increase visibility.
The Kittery Community Market also announces the market is under the new management of Kris Bowden. “Moving from Wednesdays to Sundays will make it more accessible to locals who either work on weekday afternoons or did not want to compete with the Shipyard traffic. It will also be the perfect stop for tourists returning home after a weekend in Maine, since it is just a few minutes from Exit 2 on I-95.” says Bowden, who has been an active member of the Seacoast community for nearly 20 years. Most recently, Kris has worked extensively with WXGR, and has worked with many business owners as well as nonprofit organizations to promote and manage hundreds of events.
Potential vendors may apply for space for the entire season or on a week-by-week basis. Those interested should email kitterycommunitymarket@gmail.com or visit http://www.kitterycommunitymarket.com for an application.
Sponsors will offset the costs associated with running the market to make it more affordable for vendors, and improve the variety of offerings for guests. Businesses interested in sponsoring Kittery Community Market may email kitterycommunitymarket@gmail.com for more information.
