KITTERY, Maine — The Kittery School Committee has expelled a Traip Academy senior charged by police with threatening to kill students and staff at the end of the year.

“I believe in this situation, our number one priority is to ensure students and staff are safe at all times,” said Superintendent of Schools Allyn Hutton. “The School Committee expelled the student to preserve the peace and usefulness of the school.”

The committee met in executive session Monday evening, a meeting that was attended by school administrators and school resource officer Rachel Horning. The vote to expel the student came at the conclusion of that meeting, said Hutton.
